Vincent Harris founded Metamagnetics in 2008. A distinguished engineer, scientist, inventor, entrepreneur and leader of engineers and scientists for more than 30 years, he holds the University Distinguished Professor and William Lincoln Smith Chair at Northeastern University. He has published more than 300 technical articles in peer-reviewed science and engineering journals, including book chapters, review articles and invited technical feature articles on the topical areas of nanotechnology, magnetism and microwave materials and devices.Prior to joining Northeastern, Dr. Harris was a branch head at the Naval Research Laboratory (Washington, DC) and held a guest appointment as professor of the National Security Institute at the Naval Postgraduate School (Monterrey, CA). In 2007, the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (IEEE) named Harris a Distinguished Lecturer on the topic of Advances in Ferrite Materials and High Frequency Applications. Harris is a Fellow of the IEEE, the American Physical Society, the Institute of Physics-Great Britain, the Fulbright Senior Specialist Program and the Chinese Academy of Sciences Senior International Scientist Program. He is a veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard.
As one of the founding partners of Metamagnetics, Anton joined the company in 2009 and assumed the responsibilities of Director of Research and Product Development. In this role, he established the company’s R&D function and lead it for five years. Under his leadership, the company has received over seven million dollars in federal research contracts through the Small Business Innovation Research program from the Department of Navy, National Science Foundation, and National Aeronautics and Space Association. To help drive the advanced technology commercialization process he secured follow-on funding from private industry and state programs, established strong customer relationships, and helped solidify the company’s reputation as an effective and highly dependable provider of innovative technology.Anton was elected to serve as the President of Metamagnetics by its Board of Directors in June of 2014. He was entrusted with the task of transitioning the company from a research to a product-driven organization to realize the unique potential of its leading-edge technology and bring new groundbreaking capabilities to the defense and commercial markets. He presently provides strategic leadership for the company by working with the Board to establish and implement the overall strategy and specific plans for company growth.Anton earned his PhD in Electrical Engineering from Northeastern University. He is presently an Adjunct Professor with the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. He has published over 40 papers on advanced magnetic materials and microwave devices and was recognized with numerous national and international awards for research, scholarship, and community service. He serves as the Chair of the IEEE Microwave Theory and Techniques Society’s Technical Coordinating Committee on Control Materials and Devices.
Michael Hunnewell joined Metamagnetics in 2014 to head up sales and business development. With a Master’s from Northeastern’s High Tech MBA program and also a BA in Biology from Boston College, Michael complimented his education with an occupational background in high tech startups.At Sepax Technologies, an international chromatography reagents and resin manufacturer for biotech firms, he managed six figure sales and repeatedly showed the ability to hit quarterly numbers while also breaking territory sales records. Before Sepax he was employed at NuVal LLC, a nutritional algorithm and data management company. Like any startup he wore many hats including CRM architecture, social network implementation, database oversight, and even managing the company’s nationwide data collection team.A roll up your sleeves and get dirty type of guy, Michael is excited to be part of an already wildly successful company and is ready take it to the next level.
Mr. Lee Burns is a Senior Materials Scientist with Metamagnetics, Inc. As Senior Materials Scientist, Mr. Burns, employs over 20 years of industrial advanced materials processing, product development, and sales experience to Metamagnetics portfolio of advanced magnetic materials and devices. He is engaged in project management, engineering and design, and quality.
Prior to joining Metamagnetics, Mr. Burns was an engineering consultant and Engineering Manager for TevTech, LLC (1997-2000 and 2004-2010) responsible for engineering, installing and testing turnkey high temperature vacuum systems used for ceramics processing. From 1987-1996 and 2000-2003 Mr. Burns held several positions in research, engineering and sales of chemical vapor deposited materials and products with CVD Incorporated (now part of Dow Chemical Corporation). He participated in the research and development of several CVD materials including CVD SILICON CARBIDE™, was a production manager during the early stages of CVD SILICON CARBIDE commercialization and finally moved to technical sales and commercial management with product responsibility in North America and Asia.
